Magic Mushrooms: A Guide to 12 Hallucinogenic Species of the Pacific Northwest

Hallucinogenic mushrooms are found in relative abundance throughout the Northwest, an area where wild mushrooms in general grow profusely because of damp temperate climatic conditions. Many of these mushrooms, species of Psilocybe, Panaeolus and Conocybe, have growing seasons that span most of the year, although most fruit in greatest quantity when other larger species make their appearance in the fall. The authors have collected accounts from southern Oregon to Bellingham, WA, and while the range of many of the species extends into northern California and Canada, the research explored in these pages has been centered in these two states.
